Paid editorial internship
Signature Media is Australia’s largest independent publisher of luxury and family travel across print and digital platforms. We currently have an opportunity for an intern to learn about the publishing process alongside our editorial team. This would suit a second or third year (or newly graduated) journalism / media student looking for an opportunity to get a start in this industry.
You’ll be getting a rare, hands-on look at the world of print magazines and online publishing, with day-to-day diversity in a supportive and friendly office environment. You’ll continuously be learning new things and have the opportunity to attend industry events with the team.
Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications
Best suited to a journalism or media student (either currently undertaking or recently completed studies). The successful applicant will possess the following qualities:
A strong desire to learn about and be a part of this industry
An impeccable grasp of the English language and the ability to spot spelling, grammar and consistency errors
A love for travel and a desire to share the world with others
An interest in websites, digital and print content, WordPress, photo editing and photography
An ability to commit to and support yourself through an internship, three days per week for six months

Working closely with the editorial team, you’ll be guided through the entire publishing process (ideally for two full magazine cycles), developing your skills in researching, editing and writing for a family and/or luxury audience as well as understanding social media, SEO, image-sourcing and fact-checking.

During your internship you will have an opportunity to travel and have your article published in one of our magazines and online (previous interns have been sent to Japan, Bali, Vietnam, Outback Queensland, New Zealand, Norfolk Island, Hawaii etc)
You would be learning alongside a team that are very passionate about producing high quality content for some of the best travel magazines in Australasia
Over the years of running our internship programs, we have employed many of our best interns on a full time basis on completion of their internship. Others have gone on to excellent positions in the industry.
